MATCHED PAIR OF BOOSEY AND HAWKES SYMPHONY 1010 CLARINETS, £1345

A good condition pair of B&H 1010's which are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. These are rare and early 1010's with an unusual Boosey & Hawkes logo dating to the late 1940's or early 1950's. The pair play with a "classic" early 1010 sound with lots of character and projection in the tone. Despite pre-dating the Acton patent vent the tuning throughout is good. These instruments were professionally owned and played in The BBC Concert Orchestra by "Mick" Martin, who was second clarinet to both Michael Meyerowitz and Michael Pearce: The pair have seen much use.
The instruments have just been down to our workshop for a thourough overhaul, with all pads replaced with Pisoni Premium Deluxe Tan leather pads, all touch corks replaced, and complete regulation. The pair are sold with our full 1 year warranty. The Bb, serial no. 49740, has a repaired sealed surface crack to the back of the lower joint running into the RH screw hole for the thumb rest, which has been re-positioned lower. The original Bb bell has cracked multiple times, and a modern replacement is provided additionally. The Silver plate throughout is in good condition. The A, serial no. 80000, has no cracks or repairs, though like the Bb the thumb rest has been moved lower, and the screw holes left unfilled. The Silver plate throughout is in good shape. There are 2 barrels of 64.5mm and 62.5mm. The supplied m'piece is a B&H 1010 No. 2, which is, again, in good used condition. The case is a modern leather brief case, with combination locks, which has been adapted to house the pair, it is in very good condition.
