BOOSEY AND HAWKES SYMPHONY 1010 Bb CLARINET, £825

This pristine Bb B&H 1010 clarinet is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. The last owner of this clarinet was a saxophonist and clarinettist. Formerly the instrument belonged to Tony Lamb, who for many years was Principal Clarinet of English National Opera. All of Tony's clarinets were carefully selected and often underwent further expensive after market improvements by Jon Steward ex-T. W. Howarth & Co. Typically this involved correcting intonation faults and improving the evenness of the scale. Thus when his instruments are offered back to the market they are much improved on standard production line B&H 1010s.
This Bb, with matching serial nos. 504327, has wood throughout in excellent condition, with no cracks or damage. All tan leather pads are in good condition, as are the touch and tenon corks. The Silver plate shows no wear, it is in perfect condition. This clarinet features the late version of the Acton patent vent, for improved tuning in the RH. The thumb rest has been replaced with a Howarth adjustable model, as part of the work mentioned above. The m'piece is an original Boosey & Hawkes No. 2 in good condition, and the Stagg case is in very good used condition.
