LEBLANC SONATA Bb CLARINET, £575

A near mint condition Leblanc Sonata Bb clarinet. The Sonata, along with the Esprit, was defined as Leblanc's entry level professional clarinet. The Esprit was designed for a deeper, more resonant sound, the Sonata for agility and ease of response. Leblanc's stated aim was to make a clarinet with " a pristine, beautifully focused tone, out-standing well-defined intonation, and extraordinary ease and efficiency of tone production". Certainly I feel this instrument is a superb design; a great pity that Leblanc France no longer manufacture.
The clarinet is made from finest select African Grenadilla wood, and features a polycylindrical bore design of 14.60mm, fractionally smaller than the Buffet R13. All pads, are good, but not new, which is why I describe the instrument as near mint. The wood and Silver Plate key work are pristine. We have checked the instrument over thoroughly in the workshop & regulated the key work as necessary. The case is the original Leblanc in good condition, as is the mouthpiece.
