PAIR OF BUFFET CLARINETS, £1445

A nice pair of Buffet clarinets, which were recently taken in part exchange by C. D. Their former owner is a noted collector of fine Buffet clarinets, and this pair are in very good condition.
The Bb has serial number 23206 dating to 1937. It is in good condition, but there is a large surface chip to the top of the upper joint, see photo 5. This aside the wood is in very good shape, with no cracks, damage or repairs. The key work, German Silver, exhibits an excellent shine. All fish skin pads and corks are in very good order.
The A clarinet, S/N 38103, dates to 1948. Is is in excellent condition throughout, with no cracks or repairs to the wood. The bore is 14.75mm and this instrument plays extremely well for an A clarinet: very free blowing. The key work is also excellent, like the Bb is padded in fish skin, apart from a couple of pads on the upper joint which are in cork to aid against water problems. The mouthpiece is a used Vandorn 5RV in good condition The case is an "as new" pristine Leblanc; a modern copy of a classic Buffet pouchette design, which is ultra slim and compact.
